The Moiré Soutane

With gold tasseled leoni fascia seen in 1978.

It is more of an act of humility to submit to the burden of office, and the trappings of office.

Thanks, Summer!

  1. If he had an opportunity, I would be willing to bet that Pope Francis (the Pope for the moment in the Church), would wear an open necked black or white clerical shirt and black slacks rather than the Papal cassock.

I don't wish ill on anyone, but I hope he is Pope only 1-2-3 years at most.....and then we get a true Catholic again, like Benedict XVI complete with respect for Papal vesture and who knows, maybe even the return of the Sedia.

I read a recent article that stated that had he not resigned, Benedict was thinking of restoring the Sedia Gestatoria.

For one ceremony in St. Peter's last year, he had adapted the rolling platform down the nave of St. Peter's on which he used to stand with a Papal chair, and came into the assembly seated on the rolling platform, transported by two attendants on either side. The cheers, applause, and surprise of the crowd was so overwhelming, that Benedict XVI confided that he was thinking of bringing back the Sedia. Too bad he resigned instead.

This guy we have now would never think of doing anything Papal.

  2. Holy John Paul I: God showed us that He could bring about the miracle of another Pius X, but then he allowed him to be taken away, because the Church had to continue to suffer for the sins of its members.
    ...looks like it still does.

  3. I cannot endure Francis for much longer. I'm hoping we have a new conclave by Christmas and Cardinal Scola is elected pope as he should have been at the last election. What were they thinking putting this man on the throne of St Peter. If anyone should resign it is Francis the humble. He has to go. He is the first Protestant pope.

  4. For goodness sake will somebody at the Vatican burn the stupid brown striped miter that Francis uses! And just hold him down and embroider the papal crest on that sash, it is driving me crazy. Does he have to wear a see through cassock and look like a slob all the time? We get it, you are a modernist who hates Tradition. But must he always dress and act like a hobo?

  5. I cannot endure arch-traditionalists who continually bash the Vicar of Christ on Earth. God gives us the popes we need, when we need them. Take your grievances up with Him, in humble prayer.

  6. You are partially right, but even the Pope is not above fair critics. And God doesn't give popes; He allows them, which is a very different thing...

  7. Indeed we get it,Francis is humble and is the common man, but he is also the Pope of The Holy Roman Catholic and Apostolic Church the Vicar of Christ on Earth, either act and dress the part or resign, I prefer the later and in his place a real Catholic and Pope i.e. Cardinal Ranjith or Cardinal Burke. Enough of the black tennis shoes, same brown mitre, thumbs up in Rio, holding a briefcase onto the plane, we get it, we get it, we get it. HUMBLE!!!!!!! And guess what, we wll never see the TLM out of this guy, I don't even think he knows a stick of Latin, The Anglican Catholic's have a more Traditional Mass complete with Latin, bells, smells and stunning vestments than this man in Rome.

  8. The S.S.P.X. should have taken the offer given to them by our Great Holy Father Benedict the XVI, at least they would have been back in union with Rome and could have done wonders to draw many many people back to Tradition. I feel that offer will be a long time in coming if not at all during this "odd" Papacy, let us pray that the next Holy Father is Tradition minded and welcomes our brother's the S.S.P.X. back to Rome.

  9. Much as I like fine linen and the old papal regalia Our Lord wore the clothes of an itinerant preacher. Further it was the Holy Spirit who chose the successor of Peter through the actions of the cardinals. Our Lord suffered, you remember, from the Pharisees. Reverend Father.
